About Us

Kindernothilfe is defined as an organization for cooperative development that engages in special way children and their rights. In this sense directs its actions in ecumenical Christian principles, as well as international human rights agreements, especially in the Convention of the Rights of the Child of the United Nations.

Kindernothilfe was founded in 1959 as a Christian cooperative agency, focused on children, whose purposes is to improve the living conditions of children and young people in the poorest countries.  Kindernothilfe promotes more than 566 000 children and young people in 28 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Ecuador has been working on for 25 years to realize its strong engagement to children who have multiple limitations on their development.

Since the beginning, Kindernothilfe in Ecuador has focused its activities on promoting favorable conditions which ensure that children and teens exercise their rights totally, which contributed significantly to their integration in the society and a lasting improvement of their live quality.

 

What is Kindernothilfe doing?

Kindernothilfe promotes support end development of children with special needs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Its concept is the promotion of these children, strengthening parents in their fight for survival, and public awareness for a greater acceptance and integration of these children into the society. For Kindernothilfe the promotion of children with moderate to severe mobility, sensory, intellectual or psychosocial limitations are a central element of their work. It helps over 7.000 children with special needs all over the world. Kindernothilfe is a member of “Special Needs and Cooperative Developmente Working group” and supports the edition of the magazine “Special Needs and the Third World”. Kindernothilfe is also member of the working group of nongovernmental organizations “Working with Special Needs Persons in Developing Countries” which is part of the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations and Development Policy (VENRO) in Bonn.
