Ethnography

Ethnically diverse population, being of mixed descent (Indian and Spanish) are the largest and most represent group in the common Ecuador forming around 60% of the current population. The whites, mostly descendants of Spanish and other Europeans also reach until 16%.

The Amerindians, belonging to different nationalities or indigenous groups  represent around 14%

The rest of the population consists of mestizos, African and black people that make up 6% of the total population, these are concentrated mainly in the north.

Most are located in the province of Esmeraldas, less in the Valle del Chota (Imbabura province), and a percentage that lives in the south west and north of Quito, Guayaquil (The Roldós).
